Natural Treatment Methods for Yeast Infection

Yeast infections can be treated using different methods. It is generally recommended that you see an Ob/Gyn if this is the first time or if it is particularly prolonged and severe as it just might be something else. Some people however, are uncomfortable about seeing the doctor for something so “private”.

However, if you understand your body and can catch the infection early enough, you may not really need medical treatment. These remedies are often cheaper, have milder effects and lesser side effects. If you prefer this, you could get some great results using DIY treatment methods.

  • Use Yogurt

Yogurt is a highly nutritious probiotic and is highly recommended by people everywhere as a healthy drink or snack. Even doctors recommend it for its powerful properties. This is because it containsLactobacillus acidophilus; a healthy bacteria that is commonly found in the vagina. It is able to reduce the infections because of its ability to produce hydrogen peroxide.

Women who use Yogurt as a treatment method usually take it orally and apply some to the vulva and inside the vagina. Vaginal insertion can be a little tricky. To insert properly, put the Yogurt in a plastic tampon, freeze it and insert. Sure, it’s cold, but it’s soothing compared to the fiery itch of yeast infections.

So, if you have a young daughter who has the yeasts and don’t want to try suppositories or drugs, this is a great option. Many people have recorded great success using Yogurt as a treatment option.

  • Use Garlic

Garlic is well known for its potent and healing properties. Many women have found garlic supplements or raw garlic useful in getting rid of Candidiasis. If you want to use raw garlic, make sure to peel off the papery skin –and be careful about nicking it- and insert it into the vagina. It’s easy and doesn’t involve any risk.

Most women are usually worried that the inserted garlic will work its way upwards to the cervix. Not true. The garlic cannot make its way past the cervix. Most times, they’ll fall off by themselves. This method is best applied when you’re going to bed. That way, you get to sleep while it does its magic. If doing this makes you uncomfortable, just go for the soft skin garlic supplements that dissolve inside you. They also work great.

  • Tea Tree Oil

Tea tree oil also has very potent and powerful compounds capable of killing off the fungi. It is widely used in Europe as a natural remedy for the infection. Be careful when applying it though, as it is known to sort of sting the vulva. Just use a non-application tampon covered with Ky jelly or dilute it with water and you’ll be fine.

  • Boric Acid

Who knew you boric acid could be both useful in getting rid of cockroaches and yeast infection. Amazing right? It’s useful in getting rid of both mild and severe infections. So, go get some boric acid supplements and insert two 300mg supplements every day for one week. You’ll notice some discharge and maybe a little tingling. This is okay as long as it doesn’t burn or make you uncomfortable. Please note that people react differently to this treatment option. So, if you find that it’s a little too hot for you, please discontinue the regimen. But if it doesn’t, applying it for seven days in a row and twice in the following week will do the trick.

Some of the natural home remedies may do the trick for you , if not you should consult your doctor as nothing is a substitute for professional medical advice.
